Welcome to Visualize Scriptures!
Hi I’m Itohan (pronounced as ‘ee tow han’), and I’m thrilled to have you here. Visualize Scriptures is a Christian blog dedicated to exploring the Bible through the powerful combination of storytelling and visual illustrations.
Inspiration and Purpose
Why Storytelling and Visual Illustrations?
I believe stories whether fiction or non-fiction and visual illustrations are effective methods to teach and learn. It helps you grasp concepts and ideas very quickly. In fact, this method was popular in ancient times and we can see it applied several times in the bible, in both the old and new testaments through the form of parables, to convey messages that will often lead the listener to make a choice.
In my opinion, the teachings of the God’s word minister even more to our spirit when we can relate them to our everyday lives. Through storytelling—whether based on real-life events or crafted fiction—and visual illustrations like short animations, I aim to make the profound wisdom of the Bible applicable and practicable to us.
About me
Let’s get more personal
I started my faith journey about 2 and half years ago. Prior to that, I was a lukewarm Christian although sometimes I would blow hot (seeking God) but as soon as I gave into trials and temptations, I felt hopeless and convinced that I had ruined it all. A feeling that I had let God down (can someone relate?), and I’d find myself too ashamed to come before Him. Let me say this ‘the devil is a liar’ and this is the strategy of the enemy to keep us from salvation.
The Bible says ‘Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life’ – Proverbs 4:23. That is literally the foundation or secret for all who desires intimacy with God. Whether as a new believer or someone already in the faith, know that what you continually allow into your heart will ultimately shape your desires and determine your actions. So, prior to the year 2022, as a typically lukewarm Christian, I consumed a lot of worldly content, filling my eye- and ear gate with music, movies and endless streams of content from the internet and media that did not edify God and as a result I lived in sin which I considered normal at the time because ‘everyone is doing it’. Well, in the beginning of year 2022, things were about to change and Glory to God.
Sometime in January 2022, the desire to seek God was stirred in my spirit and I was also facing some challenges at the time. During this period, I began to consume a lot of godly content day in and out, morning and night literally either through podcasts, sermons, music, etc. and little by little something began to transform inside me. It wasn’t planned or expected but this is the literal wisdom of God spoken in Proverbs 4:23 that began to manifest. All of a sudden, there was a deeper hunger to have an intimate relationship with God. I no longer desired the things of my flesh – in fact when you love God, you find yourself hating the things He hates – but even when I slipped up, because of the knowledge I had of Him this time, I knew better than to turn away from my Father, but seek His face and forgiveness.
My journey with God has been both eye opening and transformational – and I call it a journey because there is no end – Eye opening in terms of the deeper revelation and insights He has given me into His word and seeing how far removed I was. Transformational in the sense that I’ve experienced (and still experiencing) a lot of divine healing from traumas, mistakes, and regrets made over the years. He is also stirring up my confidence, self-worth – and let me tell you, when you hand over your life to God, He doesn’t do things haphazardly. He will literally transform you inside and out, cleansing what needs to be cleansed and purifying what needs purification.
It is also important to mention, the journey has not been all sunny and rosy, as the scripture says ‘I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world’ – John 16:33. The enemy is like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour, even more so, to those whom have yielded to the Kingdom of Light. But let not your heart be troubled, our God is more than able to deliver His own and His word is a double-edged sword which is our weapon against the enemy.
