When Life Gets Tough, Let God Lead

Sometimes, when we are faced with tough situations, our instinctive response is to panic and try to work things out by ourselves. Then, we turn to God as a last resort if all else fails. But that shouldn’t be the case.

God should be our first and only option. His word tells us, that He is our place of rest.

Here are four things we can do, to invite God into our situation:

1). Studying the bible:

Your word is a lamp for my feet

And a light for my path. ~ Psalm 119:105

Lamps provide light that helps us see the path ahead, so we don’t fall or stumble.

So is the word of God. The word of God is reliable and trustworthy and the bible (God’s word) shows us what steps God wants us to take in every situation. It provides us with clear written instructions, giving us direction and answers we seek.

It also illuminates every step of our journey in life, so we know what God requires of us at each stage, and we can keep walking without falling short or stumbling, even when in dire circumstances.

2). Praying:

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. ~ Mark 11:24

Prayer simply means communicating with God. To communicate effectively, we must talk to God and wait to hear what He says. God’s response can come in several ways such as a knowing in our hearts, His audible voice, revelations, dreams etc. When you pray and tell God about our circumstance and wait for His response, don’t just stop there. Have faith and believe that He has granted the desires of your heart and as Mark 11:24 says, ‘it will be yours’.

3.) Praise and Worship:

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. ~ Psalm 42:11

It’s possible that we find ourselves in a particular circumstance that leaves us too weak to pray. If you find yourself here, know that praise is a very powerful tool to receive breakthroughs. So many miracles happened in the bible as a result of praise, for example the walls of Jericho falling down as a result of the Israelites praising God. Joshua 5:13-6:27.

However, God delights in the praises of His people, so we should never go a day without praising Him, whether things are working for us or not.

4.) Fasting:

However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. ~ Matthew 17:21

Fasting along with prayers, helps to change tough situations in our lives. Personally, I have gotten a lot of positive turnarounds in my life and heard God’s instruction clearly when I fasted. Fasting helps to release breakthroughs, especially in tough situations that wouldn’t budge no matter how long we have cried out to God or confessed His word in faith.

Conclusion:

We have all been in one tough situation or another, and as long as we’re alive, we just can’t escape the cycle of ups and downs. When faced with despair, remember to turn to God for help and answers and do not rely on your own understanding or those around you.

Your motto should be: God is my first and only option.
