When believing God for healing, it is important to know that not all healings or miracles happen instantly. Sometimes when we pray or are prayed for, we expect instant miracles and get discouraged when we do not see a change. While sudden healing can take place, as we see in the case of Matthew 8:14-15, when Jesus healed Peter’s mother and the fever left her instantly, such that she got up and served them food, it doesn’t always work this way. And not seeing instant results, doesn’t mean our prayers were not answered. For example, in 2 Kings 20:5, King Hezekiah’s prayers were answered when he prayed for healing, however, God had sent a message to him that he would receive his healing in three days.
We may not have an answer to why this happens but we should understand that God has a reason for all things and believe that everything works together for our good just as the scriptures says. We may not know the appointed time for our healing and answered prayer like King Hezekiah, but we should never stop trusting in God’s kindness and knowing he has heard us and loves us enough to see us healed and made whole. Whether we receive our healing in three days, instantly, one month, or even years, we should never stop having faith and believing in God for answered prayers.
As we wait for healing, I encourage you to confess healing scriptures and hold on to God’s word on His faithful promises therein. I remember sometime in 2022, I had an inflamed stomach such that I was unable to eat anything as eating caused unbearable pains and sometimes vomiting. I went in and out of the hospital but doctors could not find anything wrong. One day, while at church the pastor was conducting a healing service and the church practice before any healing service was to steer up the faith of everyone believing in God for a miracle by preaching faith and advising us to hold on to faith even if we do not see instant results after prayers. We were to believe that we were healed even if the symptoms were still present and keep confessing scriptures. One scripture I held onto at that time was Isaiah 53:5 and I kept confessing this scripture whenever I would eat or feel pain in my stomach. I claimed my healing and refused to acknowledge the symptoms entirely. I would say within a week or two of attending that church service, I was completely healed and pain free.
In final words of encouragement, God’s word is alive and active and will always do that which it was sent to do, it will never return to Him void. Thus, I encourage you to stop dwelling on that illness or symptoms and believe you have been healed while confessing God’s word and holding on to what the scripture says.
Prayer: I pray God’s mighty healing hands rest upon you and restore your health, life and body. May you be made whole in your physical body. May your faith be restored and your lips testify of His goodness over your life. Amen
