Before we get right into the 10 powerful scriptures, let us consider what it means to meditate on God’s word.
The oxford dictionary defines meditation simply as:
“focusing one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation”
OR
“thinking deeply about something for a long time”
To meditate on God’s word means that we study His word and ruminate it through our mind. We ponder or think about it deeply, we understand what it says and the context it was used and how it can be applied in our lives. Then we repeat this over and over again.
When we do this repeatedly, the word begins to sink in deeply and take root in our hearts and mind, so that even when the storms of life come, we are not shaken because of the deep root planted. We also know when and how to apply it to any given circumstance.
Tip: If you study a scripture to meditate on and do not yet have full understanding of it, it may be difficult to meditate on it. I advise studying the full chapter of that verse, studying a different or multiple translations and praying to the Holy Spirit for understanding.
